On my way to becoming a pilot and ultimately starting my own pilot-centric business, I found that making friends with people at various aviation compendiums has really helped. The groups below regularly put out useful information, offer support to both new and veteran pilots, and are all held together by some really great people who love flying and planes as much as I do. Check them out!
The 99s – The gold standard of women pilot organizations, the 99s was formed in 1929 and counts in its membership thousands of female pilots from all over the globe (Including me!). If your home airport is anywhere near a population center, chances are there is a chapter. The 99s offer women tremendous opportunities and even scholarships. Click the link!
WAI – Women in Aviation International. A group that gives loads of support to women all over the world. They also offer scholarships. A must see site.
AOPA – The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. A great organization that focuses on education and keeping general aviators up to date on all of the latest trends and obscure/confusing FAA-type legislation. There is simply no better place to get new rules and best practices explained in a clear and concise way.
ISWAP – International Society of Women Airline Pilots. If you are a woman who is a commercial pilot, wants to be a commercial pilot, or knows a commercial pilot you should really check this site out. They’re the biggest and most well known for a reason.
AWAM – Association for Women in Aviation Maintenance. Back in the day I used to wash planes and do some light wrench turning for extra cash, so I can only imagine how hard these ladies must work. You can be the best pilot in the world, but at the end of the day mechanics, fuelers, and all other support staff keep you in the air and get you back on the ground in one piece. Hats off to the Women in Aviation Maintenance.
The Women Fly Project – These women are in pursuit of the same dream that I am, a strong sisterhood in aviation. They express that desire by making super cute shirts, hats, and all sorts of other gear that help spread the word that women fly.
Patty Wagstaff Airshows – The one and only. She is buckwild!
WASP – The official website of the women who flew for the United States in World War II. These amazing women helped kick open the door of opportunity for future women pilots and for that they deserve to be remembered forever.
WMA – Women Military Aviators. From their home page, “Each generation of women military aviators takes up the mantel forged by the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) and leaves behind their own legacy that should be honored, shared and passed to the next generation.” Couldn’t have said it better myself.
Whirly-Girls – An international society of women helicopter pilots. They are as supportive as any fixed-wing organization but lend a hand to gals that fly whirly birds. If you’ve ever had an interest in flying choppers, check these ladies out.

I am a aircraft dealer specializing in backcountry aircraft as well as amphibs. Representing a company called cubcrafters . I am interested in finding a presentable female pilot /cfi to demo and help market my aircraft. I am a pilot as well with a life long passion for flight. could you possibly suggest where I might look for such a pilot,or might you be interested yourself?
